Eating for your gut shouldn’t be restrictive; it should be abundant.
These foolproof healthful recipes were developed with the guidance of nutritionist and dietitian Alicia A. Romano. This book gives you an in-depth education on the evolving science of gut health, how to eat for it, and The Low FODMAP Diet. Dig in.
What is the Low-FODMAP Diet?
This medically tailored diet is highly researched in the realm of IBS. The Low FODMAP Diet consists of eliminating commonly bothersome fermentable carbohydrates for a spell, with a structured reintroduction of different types. The end goal: symptom reduction and the most liberal diet possible. A large portion of the recipes in this book satisfy the requirements of the complete elimination phase of this diet to support you if you need it—while still getting adequate fiber.
So Good (for You) Recipes
Beef and Oat Berry Soup
Low-FODMAP and gluten-free oat berries have substance, chew, a whole lot of fiber, and a cooking time that works for a simmered soup to boot. Enhancing the broth with aromatics sautéed in garlic oil, porcini mushrooms, tomato paste, and soy sauce took our irritant-free soup to the next level.
Roasted Chicken Breasts with Kabocha Squash and Kale
For this hearty and fiber-packed one-pan chicken dish, we pair earthy kale with squash. We chose kabocha over butternut, delicata, or sweet potatoes; the squash that looks like a squat pumpkin is just as sweet as others but, unlike them, is completely free of FODMAPs.
Peanut Noodle Bowls with Edamame and Cabbage
Tender-chewy brown rice noodle dishes are a comforting treat—especially for those with limited noodle options—as they are naturally gluten-free and low FODMAP. The bowl boasts a colorful medley of savory, tangy, and crunchy vegetables; curry powder in the peanut sauce adds warmth.
Lentil Salad with Pomegranate and Walnuts
If you’re used to dried lentils, take note: Through the canning process, lentils are the only legumes that lose their fermentable carbohydrates, so they’re low FODMAP (and high in fiber). This impressive side pairs the firm yet creamy canned legume with a tart vinaigrette, pomegranate seeds, crunchy walnuts, and radishes.

So very impressed
I am so very impressed with this book and all of the information it provides. Great, great recipes too. Simple, delicious, with many normal food recipe selections. Some books like this usually have odd recipes that you may curl your face too, but I haven’t found too many here and those that I have, I’ve tried and have been quite suprised that is was much better tasting than I first thought. It has been easy to mix and match to fit my palate, along with helping me with ease to correct my gut issues. Oh, not to mention, this book has helped me to want to cook again. I highly recomend this book.Thank you America’s Test Kitchen!

Delicious and Healthy Recipes
I made a meal and it was really good- I really enjoyed it a lot. If youâre looking for a healthy cookbook, this is it. I was just surprised to see they cook with seed oils. I replaced them with avocado and olive oil.

Gut Health cookbook
I first got this book from the local library to see what I thought, as it wasn’t cheap new. I liked the recipe and format a lot so ordered it used to save quite a bit of $ and am very pleased with the condition and the vendor. Each recipe has a color photo and has easy and concise options to make it GF and FODMAP low. It includes lots of options for every meal that are not laborious to create. And the ingredients are all ones that are common to a normal grocery store.

The best GF Bread recipe
Not a lot new for a cook like me in this book. BUT the bread recipe is worth the cost of the whole book! Delicious, and it actually comes out so that you can SLICE IT and make a sandwich. Heaven for those of us that can’t do gluten!

Another great ATK cookbook title!
I love ATK cookbooks. It’s so nice knowing that the recipes inside are fully researched and extensively tested. This book is as good as all of the other ATK titles that I own. It has been an excellent addition to my cookbook collection. When the day comes for us to downsize, my ATK titles will definitely stay with me!

Another Great Cookbook by American Test Kitchen
I have made a few recipes from this cookbook so far, and everything turned out great. The grilled chicken fajitas have to be the best fajita recipe that I made by far. Tonight I plan on making the chicken mole with cilantro-lime rice and beans. There are so many amazing looking dishes that I plan on making in the coming week. I’m looking forward to it. You can’t go wrong with this cookbook. Yum!

OK not Great
I find myself adding in basic flavor profiles since they have avoided onion and garlic in each recipe. Pictures and recipe organization is great.. Some recipes are frankly boring and uninspired. For instance, Baked Wild Rice, Pan Roasted Broccoli and Roasted Red Potatoes are each made with EVOO, salt and pepper. So yeah, not a lot of innovation here.

Second Brain
I LOVE this cookbook! Full color photos on most pages. They entice you into cooking these delectable recipes! The gut is your second brain, it must be properly nourished! I can’t believe how many tasty recipes are in this book. I bought a copy for my mom after her perforated bowel surgery and diagnosis of diverticulosis. She desperately needs more fiber in her diet and this book will help her. You will love these recipes even if you don’t have bowel troubles!
