Just what I needed
Great way to protect your Lens. Much better than a lens cap. Easier to fit in camera bag. Highly recommend this product. Easy to install. No special attachment to use. Just remove ring and put this on instead. Wish I would have ordered this sooner. The only thing to remember is you have to open lens cover manually. But itâs very easy.FYI does not come with much instructions.

This works essentially the same as Olympus’ own LC-37 lens cap, at a much reduced price. It works pretty much the same too- however, the important caveat is that this cap (at least the one I got) has a tendency to ‘stick’ if you tighten it on too hard to the front of the lens.Realistically, you don’t need to tighten it down too hard for it to retain properly, but for me the leafs did not fully open reliably until I backed the cap off the lens a bit. For the price this is an acceptable compromise.

I was always worried about scratching the protective glass over the lens when this camera was turned loose in my backpack. This eliminates that worry! Seems like this should come with the Olympus TG series cameras from the factory. Cheap enough.

It fails
Lens caps should be three things:1. quick2. easy3. require the least amount of physical effort possible.Iâve used it for less than a day and itâs already malfunctioning. It sticks when you open it, so you have to apply more pressure than youâd like for a simple lens cap.It also takes 2-3 seconds to close (the springs to close are weak, so it slooooowly pushes it closed.Yes itâs easy, but it fails on 2/3 of criteria. #fail.

OK as a lens cap, but not tough like the TG-6
This device worked OK as a lens cap but I found out that it isn’t as tough as the TG-6 itself. I dropped the camera about 4 feet a couple of days ago, and as a result, this device is now stuck in the open position. Still, I have no reason to believe that the Oly product would do any better. Since I need a lens cap, I’ll order another one and try not to drop the camera again.

Lens Protection for my TG-6
I put this on my new Olympus TG-6. I had the same one on my former TG-5 and it worked real well. I take this camera in my pocket kayaking and skiing. The cover seems to keep the lens drier than no cover, even in the water.

Jammed solid after a few months of use.
It works as advertised, but as others have noted, it is stiff to move, especially with wet hands. After a few months mine jammed solid in the open position and will not close no matter how hard I twist.At least is was cheap.

great lens protector, closes when you rotate it, but i wish it a fitter adapter ring on top of it, and maybe made from light aluminum material, so you could mount Polaroid filters ND FILTERS. But i don’t like that Olympus don’t make this a standard thing with the camera and other similar stuff, they like to exploit you. They sell the light ring for close ups, its useless for most things, unless you are putting flat objects like coins n bills right next to it to take photos, anything over 1 cm is useless. the scree of the camera scratches very fast in the pocket, i wish they came with a plastic screen protector. in winter this camera is not good most of the time even when warm, it malfunctions, every shot you take it makes 50 of the same photo. but it makes amazing macros in summer. i can shoot 550 shots on a single charge with no flash.
