Serious upgrade from the kit lens!
This is my 3rd zoom lens from Olympus M.Zuiko. The 14-42mm kit lens that came with my OMD 10 Mark III was great for starting out and learning to use this system. When I bought the weather sealed OMD 5 Mark III, I needed a a weather sealed lens. So I bought the M.Zuiko 12-200mm, which is a great travel lens to cover all shooting environments. But that lens is too heavy and bulky for everyday shooting. This 12-45mm Pro is the the zoom lens I’m most likely to use for day to day photography. The optics are noticeably better than the kit lens. It’s weather sealed which makes it a great alternative lens for my OMD 5. The focus range makes it excellent for macro photography as well. I was hesitant to buy this lens because I already had 2 zooms (and several primes). I have no remorse. It’s a great addition to my bag.

    My new all rounder
I have had this lens for but one week. It has instantly become my favorite for use with Olympus OMD. It features the most useful focal range of 12-45mm with an objective and subjective sharpness and resolution that cannot be considered inferior to primes in the same range. It’s amazing! It’s 58 mm diameter filter is perfect for using all the existing adapters and filters that I have. The professional optical quality of this lens cannot be understated. Since I live in an environment that is rainy or snowy four months of the year the rugged nature of these lenses and camera bodies is very much appreciated. As a travel kit, I can see this lens and the fantastic plastic 45 to 150 mm zoom it’s been almost people need. Of course you may want to get a higher telephoto lens for travel.Highly recommended I will guarantee that you will not be disappointed with this lens.

    Looks perfect
Delivered in time and perfect shape. Well finished, perfect size and weight. Sharp in full zoom range with a little perceptible fall-off at 12mm. My feeling its better resolution is at f/5.6 (or f/4.0), being softer at f/8.0 and over.

perfect lens for day to day
It’s not cheap, but it just the lens that OMD users will take around as a standard. (You need OMD-type in-body stabilization with this lens.) F/4 is not particularly fast, and the zoom range is not enormous but the near-wide-angle and medium telephoto are a very good useful range. And it’s really small and light: indeed my OMD EM10/MkII is perfectly balanced with this on the front. Much better (and easier to use) than the kit lens, and excellent optics over the whole range. Then there’s the price…hmmm! But I think it’s worth it.

    Veey nice lens
The lens is very sharp. Its heavier then the kit lens and costs more but it’s but much nicer. Solidly made and noticeably better image quality.

    Spectacular lens
My first of the Pro series lenses and I’m loving it. Didn’t have need for the faster 2.8 in similar focal length, so this fits my needs very well. Nice tack sharp lens for all sorts of shooting.

    Great walk around
Great walk around, does a little of everything, macro, landscapes, and portrait. Because m43 lenses perform better at big apertures, you can as well get a nice bokeh. Traveling light is everything for me, there is better lenses, for sure, but when weight is an issue, better to have a camera, that don’t. My Pen-F and this little guy are a great team I can take anywhere, all the time.

Very happy with this lens. Instant upgrade to my E-M10 Mk II.
I’m a hobbyist, at best, and typically use this camera for landscapes and vacation photos. The images coming from this lens are considerably sharper than the kit lens (Zuiko 14-42mm F3.5-5.6), although the size and weight of the PRO zoom are a bit more. Worth it. I debated between this and the similar 12-40mm F2.8 PRO zoom. I decided not to pay for the wider F-stop because I already own a Zuiko17mm F1.8 prime for those circumstances.

Been a photographer with two published books for decades. Used the best Nikon and Canon pro lenses. This Olympus lens is probably the very best lens in this range of all time. Great wide open to f/8 at all focal lengths, incredibly sharp close-ups. Makes Olympus 4/3 cameras virtually as good as full-frame. You will not be disappointed, a real revelation, and if you’re not happy, Amazon refunds your money, no questions asked. Just make sure it’s Amazon doing the selling, not a third party seller that has added conditions for returning items.
