Skin textures are pleasantly complex as visible in close-up, as are clothes and Spider-Man’s costume in particular; the latter always surprises with the level of tangible complexity evident in zoomed-in shots of the mask, where the finest fabric details are visible with obvious textural elements. Iron Man and Vulture armor are likewise complex and revealing of extra-fine details and imperfections alike. Colors are handled very well. Red and blue Spider-Man costume hues are appropriately vibrant and well saturated throughout the film. Vulture’s green night vision eyepieces are punchy, and brightly lit city exteriors are awash in wonderfully diverse and finely structured colors. Black levels hold very deep for the duration, critical in the film’s numerous dark and nighttime scenes. Skin tones offer no reason to complain. Very mild noise is visible in a few places, but the image appears otherwise clean at the source and is encoded efficiently. Fans should be very satisfied with Sony’s efforts on this one.AudioSpider-Man: Homecoming’s Blu-ray unsurprisingly contains a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack while the UHD has a Dolby Atmos soundtrack on offer. But fret not, the DTS track delivers a thoroughly enjoyable listen on its own merits. The only stumbling block comes right out of the gate at a cleanup site where voices reverberate with an unnatural depth and intensity, sounding more tinny than true, but the track certainly never takes its foot off the gas or missteps thereafter. The track offers continual aggressiveness, presenting every element with as much width, depth, and seamless movement as a 5.1 track can muster. The Iron Man suit zooming around, alien tech laser blasts popping and zipping about, action scenes spreading wide: there’s a harmonious balance between front-end dominance, surround support, and low end intensity that all power the film’s most demanding action scenes with sonic intensity and precision. Environmental details astound, whether fluid city din, thumping music at a party, or one-off details like a ringing school bell or PA announcements on a train; the track always finds proper balance to support pieces that easily pull the listener into each and every environment. Music also enjoys seamless spacing and pinpoint clarity of all elements. Certainly Spider-Man red and blue and Mysterio green are amongst the highlights, but Blu-ray fans can look forward to impressively presented clothing, skin tones, and black levels. In this case: good move. This is actually the superior of the two tracks. There are no technical deficiencies to report with this presentation. It’s quite the listen with everything in good working order, including robust, bass-heavy action scenes that are never wanting for low end thunder but also never struggling to balance that prodigious sonic content with finessed detail and flowing elements. Action scenes are stout and fully effective, combining wide berth front end stretch, effortless and precise surround integration, and subwoofer output in harmony. The soundtrack is regularly and delightfully precise in all areas, including also environmental fill detail, such as perfectly placed hammering sound effects in the under construction hotel in which Peter’s class stays while in Venice or the general crowd din when out and about in the city’s bustling locations. Music is energetic, wide, deep, and true. Clarity is perfect and fluidity and placement are without flaw. Dialogue is clear and well prioritized while grounded in a natural front-center location.VideoSpider-Man: No Way Home swings onto Blu-ray with a perfect 1080p transfer. The presentation is stout and stellar, offering crisp, high yield clarity that pushes the format to its extreme limits. Definition and detail are absolutely first-rate, whether considering either practical or digital elements. All of the usual entities are in perfect working order: skin and hair are crystal-clear. Clothes and costumes are intricately revealing (including, of course, Spider-Man’s various suits and fabrics), and of course all of the high texture city environments that leap off the screen with incredible tactile complexity. Colors are super, too. The palette is gorgeously rendered, offering impressive depth and vividness. Colors hold to a natural output with no contrast extremes or temperature anomalies, yet there’s plenty of aggressive brilliance and nuance to enjoy. This of course extends to perfectly realized skin tones, extremely deep and accurate blacks, and impressively bright whites. The image shows no source or encode flaws, either. Blu-ray just doesn’t get any better than this for a brand new blockbuster.AudioDespite the absence of the fuller, more immersive and satisfying Atmos track that Sony has included on the concurrently released UHD, the Blu-ray’s DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack is no slouch, offering web-slinging goodness, action, and music galore with just the type of precision, fullness, and clarity listeners would expect from a 5.1 track paired with one of the biggest movies ever made. The presentation is nonstop impressive, offering full stage engagement to heavy action, musical score, and atmosphere alike. The first big action sequence comes to life with room-shaking bass as Doctor Octopus’ heavy tentacles slam into a concrete overpass. The action to follow is intense as cars fly, concrete rubble flings, and characters sweep and swoop around the stage, yielding a symphony of sonic delight that balances low end extension, evolving surround content, and discrete effects with uncanny precision, even in the “limited” 5.1 configuration. Of course, these observations hold for the duration as the action becomes ever more intense and complex. Throughout the film, musical engagement soars for perfect spacing with dominant front side output and balanced surround and subwoofer integration, adding just the right low-end depth and back-channel usage to make for a fully satisfying presentation. City atmosphere, crowd din, and other environmental essentials are equally well engaged. Dialogue is clear, well prioritized, and finds its home in a front center channel, where it remains minus the few times when more discrete, location-specific placement is necessary. The Atmos track is better, but this is a rousing Blu-ray track from start to finish.

Love the set and pricing but having three disc in a case for two is just asking for the loose one to get damaged.
