Zulay Kitchen is named after my extraordinary mother, Zulay. As a single mother in poverty-stricken Venezuela she worked extra long hours yet, still found time to cook healthy meals for her kids.

At the time, I thought nothing of it. Now that I’m married with children, I see how much of a superhero my mom really was.

    Surprisingly Good Garlic Press
    I owned a garlic press years ago that did practically nothing to a clove of garlic, and I’ve not owned one since then. But I’ve got a good crop of garlic growing this year, so I thought I’d try again. This one by Zulay was highly rated, so I thought I’d try it. I was surprised by how easy and effective it was. Squeezing it requires some pretty strong hands, but if you can handle that, it turns cloves of garlic into shredded garlic in a couple of seconds. The price also includes a black rubber tube that’s suprisingly good at removing the skins from the cloves and a handy brush for cleaning out the holes in the press. It was a great purchase!

    I haven’t owned a garlic press in years because they always break or are too hard to clean. This product was easy, effective, and so easy to clean. I have wrist issues and it is not too hard to press and get great results. Glad I purchased!

    This is my second garlic press attempt and I have finally found the one.It’s a good grip work out but gets all the garlic without needing to peel anything.Easy to clean and so much faster than chopping garlic.

    I really like this garlic press, sleek design and’s easy to use. Unfortunately the first time I put it in the dishwasher one of the inserts on the handle came off.I like the garlic peeler that came with it, very easy to peel garlic!The only thing missing is a way to remove the garlic from the press.

    It works perfectly. It looks good and compact, yet It can powefully crush garlic with the skin on, ginger and more. It is dishwasher safe and easy to clean.

    Needs an upgrade
    I’ve been looking for one of these for a long time and although ergonomically designed, there are some things that would stop me from recommending this or buying it for someone.1) Too small. You can’t fit more than 2 cloves (depending on the size of the clove) into it. This needs to be bigger. Forget the color. I would want at least be able to fit 3 -4 cloves in the chamber.2) When squeezing, the garlic always spills out the sides of the top chamber. Now, you not only have to scrape off the bottom portion of the squeezed out garlic, but the top too.3) Because of the nature of garlic, there was always garlic stuck in between the “teeth” of the garlic press. Looks easy to clean right? Just run under the water, right?? Not quite. I had to get a toothpick or butter knife to get out the stuck garlic. Woe be to you if you let the garlic dry on the “teeth” before cleaning it. Soak it in water if you don’t want to clean it right away.Summary: Would I get another one? Not unless there are upgrades to the problems I encountered. Would I recommend it to someone else? Not at this time. I got it because the price was $10. I would only use this if I have a serious amount of garlic to mince and I don’t want mince it the old-fashioned way with a knife. Although I didn’t break it while using it unlike another commentor, I was afraid I would with the amount of force I was exerting on the handles during use.

    My old garlic press which I had used for 10 years gave up the ghost and have since purchased 3 replacements, which either broke or didn’t do the job. This Zulay premium garlic press is the bees knees and great at pressing the garlic. Also easy to clean.
